Aunque la idea de una Europa unida estaba en las conciencias de los europeos desde hace siglos, durante mucho tiempo esto no fue posible por­ que la guerra ha sido el principal elemento en las relaciones entre los Estados europeos. Esto cambió tras 1945 . El presente trabajo analiza la importancia que la idea humanista del rechazo de la guerra tuvo sobre las generaciones de intelectuales y políticos que en el siglo xx gestaron el proyecto de la Unión Europea. The idea of a united Europe was on the minds of Europeans for centu­ ries, but for a long time this was not possible because the war has been the main element in the relations between the European States. This changed after 1945 . This paper analyzes the importance that the idea humanist of the rejec­ tion of the war had on generations of intellectuals and politicians in the 20th century presented the project of the European Union.
