Durante demasiado tiempo, los estudios de franciscanismo no han dedicado la atención merecida a esta mujer, renovadora de la vida reli- giosa femenina y partícipe, junto a Francisco, del surgimiento de la fraternitas . La intención de este artículo estriba en ofrecer una nueva cronología de la vida de Clara, apoyándose en los últimos trabajos publicados, recientes descubri- mientos arqueológicos y una lectura atenta de las fuentes. De la variación de las fechas, surgen cambios importantes para la comprensión de Clara, su rela- ción con Francisco y el papel de la jerarquía eclesial en la conformación del movimiento franciscano. The figure of Clare of Assisi is nowadays an object of a deep historiogra- phic examination. For a long time, the franciscan studies haven´t paid the due attention to this woman who renewed the feminine religious life and, at the same time, together with St. Francis of Assisi, took part in the emergence of the fraternitas . This article intends to offer a new chronology of the life of St. Clare, based on the last published works, on the recent archaeological discoveries and on a careful reading of the sources. Depending on the variation of the dates, there will be important changes which have to do with the understanding of St. Clare, with her relationship with St. Francis of Assisi, and with the role of the ecclesiastical hierarchy in the configuration of the franciscan movement.
