ABSTRACT The interpretation of the figure of St. Francis of Assisi offered by Scheler in the 2 nd edition of his work “Essence and Forms of Sympathy” is important for both systematic reasons and for reasons relating to the evolution of Scheler’s thought. The reason for the systematic interest is that several central themes of the philosophy of Scheler converge in this interpretation: his theory of values, his philosophy of history, his doctrine of models or his phenomenology of sentiments. From the developmental perspective, the text on St. Francis represents the point of inflection where we see for the first time characteristic elements of Scheler’s later philosophy. 842 LEONARDO RODRÍGUEZ DUPLÁ
