The Gene– ral's declaration that the issue was no longer open for review since the decision had already been taken, was resented. The question was of such vital import to the Fathers of Agra that the scheme had to be reconsidered. There was also a veiled threat that the Tuscan Fathers might renounce the Mission of Agra if the general superiors were to persist in their decision to use their Friary for the Study 100 . It was from Brazil that the General finally made his voice heard in Agra. Fr Christopher was told pointblank that it was enough for him to let the general superiors know if he was prepared or not to fall in line with their dispositions, and that they themselves would see to the rest 101 .. Fr Christopher felt genuinely convinced that it was a godsend to act martyr for the cause of his Mission. After all he had served Agra for thirty-two years and the time was ripe for calling it a day. Se poi Ella non trova giusto quanta qui scrivo, non si preoccupi troppo, me lo dica apertamente e non dubiti che troveremo una via per rimediarvi".
